That is what one of the vendors at the Saugus Swapmeet hollers out every few minutes! He cracks me up, I think he is selling cell phones and such. I’m too impressionable to go up and see what he’s got. I know that if he started talking directly to me, I’d be sold, and I’m not shopping at the swapmeet, I’m supposed to be selling!
I do buy my fruits and veggies there at the swapmeet now though…they’re fresher than Costco, let alone the supermarket. I found a great “swapmeet” up in Big Bear, CA. They have quite a few organic fruits and vegetables vendors there, and you can’t beat the prices. But sadly their swapmeet is only from April through October…the snow, don’tcha know!
Anyhow, I just want you all to keep checking back, we just got a huge estate sale, so we’ll see what new goodies there are to have!!

We are so glad that we don’t have to ship this huge “village”. The family that bought it lives here in So. Cal, so we are meeting them at a midway location, Ontario Mills Mall, to deliver it!

They save the $25 shipping…and we don’t have to sweat the week that it takes for it to go through the post, hoping it gets there un-broken!

What a small world we live in! This pitcher was bought by someone in New York…right down the street from where we stayed in ’03, when we took our month long train trip with the moms.

Looks like the pitcher will be used in a restaurant Antica Venezia which is between Hell’s Kitchen, where we stayed, and Greenwich Village. We had such a great time in New York and I can’t wait to go back, I will definitely be checking out this restaurant…maybe even have some water from the ‘pitcher’!

A Rose by any other name…

This was a bit of a surprise to us…the demand for old and previously owned perfume! Which proves the old saying, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure. This is also the fun part of our shopping for profit, discovering little known facts about the world around us.
A genuine Chic Parisien, the House of Guerlain was founded in 1828 by Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain. The first store was located in 42, rue de Rivoli, Paris. The Guerlain family owned the House until 1994 when it was sold to the LMVH group, the French luxury goods giant. As of 2008, Jean-Paul Guerlain, a fourth generation perfumer of the family, is still active as an adviser.
Shalimar (1925) was created by Jacques Guerlain (Pierre-François Pascal grandson). As its name suggests it is an oriental fragrance. In the Guerlain website it is described as a voluptuous, sensual and bewitching perfume (quote: “wearing Shalimar means surrendering control to the senses”)
Aramis is one of the oldest of the Estee Lauder Company’s more than twenty-five recognized brands, launched in 1964 as the first line of cosmetics products designed specifically for men.
The signature Tommy Hilfiger cologne was launched in 1995 and has warm scents of cinnamon and cranberry.
Calvin Klein, a pioneer of designer jeans, underwear and the wholesome, all-American look, and launched Truth Calvin Klein Men in 2002. It is a scent drawn from nature. This aromatic, sensual, woody fragrance is centered around a clean, watery, green freshness that is accented by aromatic basil and fresh cardamom. Sexy. Masculine.
Loris Azzaro (b. 1933) was a French fashion designer, known for his glamorous party dress creations for French high society women. He found success rather quickly. With his first store opening in 1962, his business had become well established by 1968. Over time he dressed many celebrities such as Raquel Welch, Sophia Loren and most recently, Nicole Kidman. In 1996, the male fragrance Chrome came onto the scene and is now one of the top selling men’s colognes in the market.

My wife and I are new to this online selling thing, so we are constantly reevaluating our methods. Well with the major price hike that ebay has announced for March 30th, looks like a lot of sellers are reevaluating. From what I have read some sellers are saying that their cost of selling on ebay will double. A lot of sellers are saying that they will quit, that the increased costs will completely eat up any small profit margin that they had left.

In our limited experience, since our items are unusual, some, one of a kind, we are kind of stuck with the high prices at ebay. We have everything listed at Bonanzle as well, but things just don’t get seen there as much. So it goes without saying that the sales are low. But our costs after listing at Bonanzle for almost 5 months - zero dollars.
I have learned alot reading the message boards at ebay, I guess they do these rate hikes every year, and they do it very cleverly, ebay’s pricing structure seems to be written by the IRS, full of loop holes, all obviously designed to glean ebay a penny or two on each transaction. I have even noticed software glitches that always seem to error in ebay’s favor. (keep your eye on the gallery check box, it has very very annoying glitch that costs you 35 cents, regularly)

The biggest thing that we have learned about ebay is that it is time consuming, I thought that we would have a lot more time to write here. From what little I have had time to read on ebay’s forum boards, everybody has the same complaint, about all the time it takes to create listings and maintain them.
We are always looking for ways to speed up the process. We are using the turbo lister program that ebay gives away for free, sometimes I wonder if we don’t spend more time fighting with it, than we would listing on ebay itself. I do like the fact that all of the listings are storedfor future reference.
Thought I should publish a link, since ebay’s website is such a pain to navigate, it’s almost like they think the more time they can keep you searching for something the more money they make?
